The begining of a Fairy Party....

Image
The Duchess wanted a flower fairy party for her little princess's first Birthday! We found the SU! retired set, Fairy Nice, on ebay for a reasonable price. BINGO! We are in business...let the invitation making begin! We set it up so that we were each doing something...and whipped them out in no time. Aqua Painters were used to color the fairies! The SU! colors for the party were Green Galore, Real Red, Only Orange and Pixie Pink, along with some retired DP from SU! Voila! they fairies are done! A little diamond dust on the wings and they are all sparkly! More to come... always' cyndi

Well, as promised at long last here is the Indiana Jones party blog. It was yesterday, and we all survived. The kids had fun and it ended up going well. Although it started off horrid. This is the way the cake started...total disaster. Funny enough, this should have been the easiest cake i have ever made for a party. When your cake falls apart, you have to redesign it...more on that later. I found these great messenger bags at Dollar Tree. They made GREAT Indy bags for all the kids! Mine went nuts for them so i knew the others would like them as well. Here is the food i served. In addition to cake and ice cream, we had a hummus platter with pita, carrots, celery and Kalamata olives, we had sliced and boiled hot dogs as 'worms', trail mix, grapes and sour cream and onion chips. I scattered bugs throughout the food for effect. Everyone remember that scene in Indiana Jones where they are served bugs? ugh! When the kids arrived, they went out on the patio and threw sticky frogs...t

here it is...TA DAH! My new craft space! as you come up the stairs you see ^ this! Of course i still have to share it with the kids and i don't have it all just right yet...but it is usable at least! Here is the storage behind my desk. all those little wicker bins on the right are full of misc embellishments, etc. I have scrap and extra ribbon stored here in jars by color. I am working on something to store my rolls of ribbon on. I have this magnetic board and stuff next to my desk! this is how i have my SU! stamps stored for now. I know you are thinking i don't have enough, right? my husband would disagree! And this is the little corner for my DD with her craft stuff and kitchen. the kids love to play while i am up there working. I think it is going to work out nicely! always cyndi

Remember

I was only a week from delivering my first child. My best friend had 3 month old twin boys. Her parents had just left to return home 5 hours away. I was going over that morning to hang out and to help her with the boys. I heard something going on as i was listening to a radio show that morning, but i couldn't really tell what it was. I am not a person to watch the news or morning shows. I basically live under a rock in my safe little corner of the world. I pulled up in her drive and went inside. I think Sesame Street was on "for the boys". "Turn on the news" i said to her, "something is going on. I think a plane just flew into a building in NY." I sat and stared at the t.v. all morning. It was almost like it was unreal. Living in the deep south, i was hundreds of miles away from NY or DC. It seemed almost like a foreign land this was happening in to me. Yet rationally i knew, this was here, my country. WOW. I knew i would know people who knew peo
