this week...

this week is all about this girl! My BABY is turning 8 tomorrow.  Happy Mother's Day to me! Celebrating the birth of my last child! My only daughter! Spending it with my Mom and daughter! yay!

Her party is next weekend, so this week will be a week long birthday party prep, awards day at school(s) and Birthday hoopla for this kid...who wants breakfast in bed tomorrow morning!

More on the Mother-Daughter banquet with photos of table decor next week! Also details on the party for my girl!

Wishing you all a blessed and happy Mother's Day!

How i fell down the rabbit hole

Pinterest started it all. I am sure it has started a lot of bizarre activity in households since it popped up on line. (if nothing else, people sitting at their computer screen for hours on end "pinning" things or looking at things others have pinned!)

I saw this on Pinterest one day, and pinned it. Unlike a lot of what is pinned, at least by me, I eventually clicked through to this blog:

Often when i find a blog I like, I will spend HOURS reading through the entire thing. ( I am sure there is some sort of 'disorder' associated with this) I have to admit I didn't do that with this blog, but I did spend a lot of time there over a few days poking around, clicking through to other places and reading.

If you are looking for some easy to follow guidelines for "better" or "healthier" eating, and to you that means less in the way of processed foods, then this is the blog to check out. She has a lot of information as well as tips there. Just go poke around and see what you can find.

I've had a few people ask me how the "food thing" is going. I ate like a crazy person yesterday. I don't have any real excuse, I just did. Then i didn't sleep well last night and wondered if it was from all the sugar and caffeine i ingested.  I have been doing moderately better today, and am hoping for a lot better tomorrow. I have yogurt straining for whey, and a double batch of soaked homemade 100% whole grain tortillas, well soaking, for dinner tomorrow night. They will be easy to roll out and cook up with dinner! I have some Pork Carnitas that i have taken from the freezer defrosting in the fridge. I will make some guacamole with the avocados i got at ALDI earlier in the week for .49 cents each!!! yummy!

With God's help...

I got this book a while back and have been a total SLACKER about really reading it. I have read through a few prayers, and anyone who is familiar with "The Power of a Praying...." series, knows they are good.

I found however that there were a few prayers in this book that i felt I needed to pray over my whole family, myself included. One that particularly struck me is one in the Chapter entitled "Having the motivation for Proper Body Care."

I have to admit, i was thinking this would be a prayer about helping my children WANT to take baths, and properly clean themselves...but it wasn't. This was a prayer about FOOD! I have 'revised' this prayer and printed it for my family so that we can pray it daily over each other. I wanted to share that with you.  Please note that this prayer is 99% from the book "The Power of a Praying Parent" by Stormie OMartin and that i cannot really take credit for it in anyway. I just felt like i should share it with you.

I lift up our family, (insert names hers) and myself, to You and ask that You would place in us a desire to eat healthy food. I now that throughout our lives we will be tempted take poor food choices and eat that which brings death instead of life. Help us to understand what’s good for us and what isn’t, and give us a desire for food that is healthful. Let us be repulsed or dissatisfied with food that is harmful.

I pray that we be spared from all eating disorders in any form. By the authority given me in Jesus Christ (Luke 10:19), on my family’s behalf, I say “No” to anorexia, bulimia, food addiction, overeating, starvation diets, and to any kind of unbalanced eating habits.

Lord, Your Word says “you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”(John 8:32).  Help us to see the truth about the way we are to live, so that we can be set free from unhealthful habits. I pray that along with the desire to eat properly, You would give us the motivation to exercise regularly, to drink plenty of pure water, and to control and manage stress in our lives by living according to Your Word.  Whenever we struggle in any of these areas may we turn to You and say, “Teach me Your way, O Lord”(Psalm 27:11). Give us a vision of our body as the temple of Your Holy Spirit.

I pray that we will value the body You’ve given us and desire to take proper care of it. May we not be critical of it, nor examine ourselves through the microscope of public opinion and acceptance. I pray that we will not be bound by the lure of fashion magazines, television, or movies which try to influence us with an image of what they say we should look like.  Enable us to say, “Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things”(Psalm 119:37). Help us to see that what makes a person truly attractive is YOUR HOLY SPIRIT living in them and radiating outward. May we come to understand that true attractiveness begins in the heart of the one who loves God.

Establish Your vision of health and attractiveness in us this day, and permanently instill in us the desire to take proper care of our body because it is the temple of your Holy Spirit.
In Christ’s Name we pray,

time keeps on slip'n, slip'n, slip'n into the future!

Long time no blog, huh?

i know. go ahead and say it ...

I just haven't had anything to say. I know you are shocked! I am thinking about starting to blog again. I have started trying a bunch of new recipes and to eat healthier. This has generated a lot of interest from my FB friends. Lots of questions.
Not only that, I am finding that even with the help of Pinterest I am having trouble keeping up with it all. It might help me to blog about my health food adventures!

Anyone interested?

this will of course end up with a lot of stuff other than healthy eating, 'cause that's how i roll.

One thing i will say is that i spontaneously decided to quit taking my "crazy meds" and that was NOT GOOD! All the members of my family are still living. What happened, notably, was that my brain quit functioning properly. shock, right? I was really loopy-floopy-dizzy and it was NOT good. I got my Rx refilled yesterday, popped a pill and now i feel "normal" again. I am going to try and take one every other day for a month and see how that goes. (prayers please)

So, maybe I'll be back soon with healthy eating info!
